We have lit our fire down in the house this week to test it for our winter guests either on a bed and breakfast or self catered basis here in bourg d’oisans. For those that do not know Bourg d’Oisans is the ideal base to explore Alpe d’Huez , Les Deux Alpes and La Grave.
Just a couple of hours from Bourg d’Oisans there is a fantastic safari park. Although a distance from Bourg d’Oisans its a fantastic day trip for the family. More details about its opening times can be found at their website.
Although the Tour de France is not visiting Alpe d’Huez or Bourg d’Oisans this year Bourg d’Oisans will still be a great place to watch stages 9 and 10 of the 2010 Tour de France. The Col de la Madeleine (stage 9) can be reached by cycling over the Col du Glandon (or why not drive your car and park up and cycle down to the Madeleine) The stage from Chambery to Gap (stage 10) will also be passing over the Laffrey which is a 30 km cycle ride from Bourg d’Oisans. While you are here you can also tackle the Col du Galibier, Col de la Croix de Fer, Col du Lautaret and of course Alpe d’Huez. We have another 2 bedroom apartment (currently being beautifully renovated for May 2009) and tucked away down a quiet street but still very near to the centre of Bourg d’Oisans. We are now taking bookings for Christmas and New Year 2009 in the heart of the French Alps and have already had a flurry of enquiries so, BOOK NOW to set your mind at rest and give yourself something to look forward to once the summer holidays are over!
For Christmas, bookings will commence Sun 20th Dec and for New Year, Sun 27th Dec, but with some accommodation we can be flexible so let us know if you have different requirements.

Escape the cold by the wood burning stove in the Sleep House with one of our books or magazines, and a glass of the local Genepi, or enjoy a good brisk walk around the village, skiing in the mountain resorts, a last minute spot of Christmas shopping in Grenoble – explore all that the area has to offer.
You’ll find everything you need to cook your Christmas/New Year lunch in our well equipped kitchens, but if you’d rather not cook, then we can arrange for a local cook to arrive on your doorstep and prepare and serve a meal for you, or you can order some homemade meals/cakes/puddings in advance which we can put in the freezer for you to dip into during your stay.
If YOU would like we will supply the Christmas tree and fairy lights, a selection of goodies including a bottle of fizz and a list of suggestions of activities for you to enjoy in the area.
With Ryanair and Easyjet both flying into Grenoble from the 19th December getting here couldn’t be easier too.

Sleep House (lovely french town house sleeps up to 8.) just £850.00
We are now taking booking for winter breaks in Bourg d’Oisans for Alpe d’Huez and Les Deux Alpes Skiing. Our main house that sleeps up to 7 people is available from£400 GBP per week on a self catered basis. We also have a 1 bedroom apartment available from £300GBP per week. Both properties are fully heated and also have a garage for sports equipement. Our main house has a wood burning stove for snug winter evenings.
The properties are also available for shorter midweek or long weekend breaks. We are also available to do private pick up from Grenoble Airport and provide uplifts to either Alpe d’Huez or Venosc (for Les Deux Alpes) for a small additional charge. As a birthday treat we went white water rafting over at St Christophe en Oisans and in easy reach from our base in Bourg d’Oisans. For 22 Euros each you get a couple of hours of white water rafting, the chance to swim in the waterfall and also to run and jump off a rock into the water. You are fully equipped with wet suites and life jacket. The only thing you are not prepared for is the 5C water !
